Georgia’s 16 electoral votes were decided by a narrow statewide margin. The geography of the result was clearer than the topline: Metro Atlanta’s growth and turnout changed the balance.
The metro made the difference
A tight race came down to Metro Atlanta. Andrade’s coalition in the fast-growing suburbs offset Trump’s strength across much of the state.
A narrow margin, a broad coalition
The statewide margin was small, but the geography was not: dense metro counties and nearby suburbs supplied the decisive votes.
Democratic votes from Savannah, the coast, Columbus and Macon added to the coalition that formed around Atlanta.
